If the system does however not boot with the UEK kernel, then obviously something isn't supported or compatible, which could be anything without knowing some details. Using a different version might be worth trying.

I don't have a Lenovo Thinkpad and cannot answer whether Oracle Linux 7.2 is compatible with your computer, or whether any other release version or Linux distribution should work.
#Linux mouse clicker how to
Any ideas on how to solve/diagnose this issue? The only "solution" is to close all windows, logout and then login, but this is very annoying (restarting gnome-shell with Alt-F2 r is useless). I saw on the Debian Forums a thread about this problem with the same version of gtk+, but there weren't any replies. This happens with three different updates of the 3.10 kernel (this laptop does not even boot with the UEK kernel). I don't see anything suspicious on the logs when this problem starts, dmesg and journalctl doesn't report anything related to graphical applications. Also this can't be hardware related because it also happens with the touchpad. I don't think that this is caused by the window manager because it also happens on Cinnamon and on XFCE.

Sometimes only the active window responds to mouse clicks, but the others don't react or activate until I use the application switcher (Alt+Tab). I can still move the cursor and applications respond normally to the keyboard. Frequently the system stops responding to mouse clicks. I've installed Oracle Linux 7.2 with Gnome shell 3.14.4 on a Lenovo Thinkpad.
